Me

Hi, I'm Charlie and I'm a 16 year old girl, splitting my time between Leeds & Hook Norton (Oxfordshire) in the UK.

I've been writing & singing my own songs since about 13 year old. Some of the earliest songs I recorded just using my camcorder were covers, but now I have a decent recording set-up for my own songs, which hopefully sound a lot better.

I love writing with my electro acoustic guitar, but I also write using my keyboard, but not as frequently.
I occasionally play in a band as the bassist or guitarist and sing lead vocals. I am now self learning a beautiful tenor ukulele.

I still have a long way to go to learn about production & mastering, but some of the SoundCloud users are helping me understand and learn.

My Creative Process

The only "production" I do with 99% of my tracks is to record each vocal/instrument separately and then combine them and add harmonies, etc. Sometimes I start with the lyrics and sometimes I start with an interesting melody. Sometimes I start with a few chords, add some lyrics and the song takes a life of it's own.

"Player 2" is a little different. I wrote the lyrics in my head and created the idea of a melody on my walk to school one morning. I then had to wait till I got home to make a permanent record of the song.
